It should be obvious that I am not a proponent for this (IMHO as well as Al's) lunacy. It will extract the image from the drive. Run the creator utility and point it to your USB drive. To allow Windows 7 to use the USB Drive in your USB3 ports for installation, you need to download the Windows 7 USB 3.0 Creator Utility. Allow RUFUS to copy the image to the USB drive. It is so long since I created it - and its operation I remember being very fragile - that I really cannot provide much support for its use. Warning that this will erase everything on your USB drive. For more information, read the comments included in the file and also find one of the sites that discusses this process. What I have done is attach the batch file that I made and used to update the installation files for my purposes oh so many moons ago. Suffice it to say, it didn't work very well and I finally gave up attempting to use it - and thus don't have it to pass on. Intel, once upon a time, had a tool, called the USB 3.0 Creator, that performed this preparation process for you. I warn you: it's not a simple process the DISM tool is not your friend. In order to accomplish this, you need a build of the Windows 7 installation files (WIN and install executables) that have the USB 3.0 drivers gas-pumped into them. There are multiple places on the internet where instructions for how to do this have been posted. Since it is seen in the BIOS, it should be seen in the Windows 7 Installer.I am not sure why Al asked for this information Intel Customer Support is just going to say that this NUC is discontinued and not supported. After thinking about it, however, I concluded that, since the BIOS has no way of knowing whether the user had purposely disabled the eMMC before the whole sequence of operations was started, it cannot automatically enable it. I used Rufus to put ISO on USB and then Windows 7 USB 3.0 Creator Utility v3 afterwards. Bought a NUC5PGYH and want to put Win 7 Pro 64bit on it.
